Switch Position
Annunciator Communicate critical switch position well in advance of the point.
At A Glance
For over 100 years, railroads have used mechanical targets to indicate the point position of manually operated switches. However, these targets are difficult to see, especially at night. If you are in an on-track vehicle, you must slow down to safely verify the point position. There are dozens of documented incidents in which trains run through misaligned or gapped points, with potentially catastrophic results. Switch Position Annunicator Finally, there is a safer way. RailComm Inc. has developed the Switch Position Annunciator (RailComm SPA™), utilizingradio technology to communicate critical switch position information, well in advance of the point. Now a train crew can simply “interrogate” the Switch Position Annunciator, which then provides an audible and/or visual message indicating the position of the switch. What could be safer?
