The RailComm Isolation Module provides a low cost solution for isolating power and serial communication ground connections. The module supplies an isolated +12VDC output at up to 1.0 A that can be used to power a data radio or other serial communication device. The module is an effective solution for creating isolation between two ground systems and eliminating ground faults.
Serial Communications
The Isolation Module provides two optically isolated serial communication channels. Each serial communication channel can be independently configured for RS232 or RS422 standard serial data communications.
In addition, the Primary (A) Port and Secondary (B) Port serial connections for each channel can also be independently configured for RS232 or RS422 operation. This provides an RS232 to RS422 converter capability on both serial channels.
The RailComm Isolation Module is housed in a wall or panel-mountable enclosure that can be located indoors or within an environmentally protected case.
The RailComm Isolation Module supports RS232 or RS422 serial data communications on its Primary (A) and Secondary (B) ports. Each port is independently configured through a DIP selector switch. Power and serial port connections are made through Euro-style pluggable terminal blocks.
