RailComm Awarded Contract September 17, 2007 -- RailComm, Inc. has been selected to provide the Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) system for TriMet’s Washington County Commuter Rail Project. RailComm’s state-of-the-art Domain Operations Controller (DOC®) train control system will be utilized through a web-enabled Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) delivery model. RailComm’s SaaS offering provides a “pay-as-you-go” model, thus eliminating capital equipment procurement constraints. The RailComm DOC®:CTC system will integrate with the existing RailComm Track Warrant Control system presently in place on the Portland & Western Railroad. The DOC® (Domain Operations Controller) software-based control system is a next generation computer-aided dispatching system used to centrally control and display status of signal interlockings, field devices, and in fact, any mechanical, electro-mechanical, or electronic device imaginable. DOC® is an advanced command, control, communications and information (C3i) server-based platform that supports a wide variety of integrated solutions for indication, control, access and distribution of critical operational data across the corporate enterprise. RailComm’s SaaS delivery model is a world’s first and provides very significant advantages over traditional purchasing models. Through SaaS, local IT support is minimized, traditional capital constraints are eliminated, and DOC® customers receive regular updates as RailComm continues to add functionality to its industry-leading, command and control software suite. The DOC® system is designed with built-in expansion capabilities for adding workstations and/or field control nodes without interrupting operation of the current system. Since the DOC® control application resides on servers within RailComm’s managed data center in Rochester, NY, the requirement for local IT support at each railroad is greatly reduced.
