RailComm to Provide Remote Control Yard Automation for Formosa Plastics December 6, 2006 – Formosa Plastics has selected RailComm, Inc. to provide a wireless yard automation system for their Marshall Yard II facility in Point Comfort, Texas. The RailComm system allows switches within the yard to be remote controlled from a centrally located pushbutton control panel. The hardened control panel is outdoor-rated and provides Formosa with a highly reliable platform for individual switch control and entrance-exit routing functionality. Formosa selected RailComm’s remote control technology to dramatically improve productivity by decreasing the amount of time required to align switches for train movements through the yard. A point-to-multipoint wireless data communications network will be established utilizing RailComm’s RADiANT™ Data Radio technology, linking the power switch machines to the control panel.
