RailComm Provides Remote Control Derail for CSX Stanley Yard

October 14, 2006 – RailComm, Inc. has provided CSX with a remote control derail system, installed in their Stanley Yard outside Toledo, Ohio. CSX selected RailComm’s remote control technology to decrease the amount of time required to provide derail protection to trains. The system was cutover in early October.

A point to multipoint wireless data communications network was established utilizing RailComm’s RADiANT™ Data Radio technology, linking the power derail system to the PC-based controller located in the yard tower. Derails can now be applied and removed with the click of a mouse.  In addition to controlling the derail system, RailComm’s DOC® (Domain Operations Controller) software also logs the name and trade of each craft controlling a derail machine, along with the date and time of all derail control activity.  This information is used in FRA required reports, and eliminates the need for a manual logging process.
