Providence & Worcester Implements RailComm Remote Control Derail System
October 6, 2008 — RailComm has provided a wireless remote control derail system for Providence & Worcester Railroad in Massachusetts. The power derail system is remotely controlled by the RailComm Domain Operations Controller (DOC®) pc-based application. When a derail is controlled on or off, the operator is required to input his/her name and trade. This provides a complete history that can be easily retrieved and/or exported via the DOC® Viewer.
RailComm's 2.4 GHz Spread Spectrum RADiANT™ data radios are used to establish wireless communications networks to link the derail and office locations.
Upon activation, service tracks are safely and immediately protected by the remote control of the appropriate derail device with associated blue strobe light warning indication.
