RailComm Commissions DOC® Yard Automation System at UP’s Livonia Yard For Immediate Release FAIRPORT, NY –January 25, 2005. RailComm, Inc. has successfully commissioned a wireless remote control and yard automation system for the Union Pacific Railroad. The RailComm system controls the trim pullback and departure tracks on the South End of UP’s Livonia Yard in Addis, Louisiana. Union Pacific selected RailComm’s Domain Operation Controller (DOC®), a server-based control system, to provide a highly reliable platform for individual switch control and entrance-exit routing functionality. A point to multi-point wireless data communication network was established utilizing RailComm’s Radiant Data Radio technology, linking the DOC® server to nineteen existing power switch machines and associated train detection equipment. A separate point-to-point high-speed data radio link was also established to provide control capability from two separate DOC® workstations located at different areas in the yard. About RailComm RailComm, Inc. provides Machine-to-Machine Command, Control, Communication and Information (C3i) solutions for our railroad and industrial clients throughout North America. We integrate our intelligent embedded controllers with existing field-based appliances and communicate remote control/status information to our DOC® (Domain Operations Controller) server-based platform. DOC® provides a networked platform for data acquisition, command/control decision logic, and extensible/scaleable architecture to support a wide variety of customer specific applications.
